Coral Propagation

According to a report by the World Resources Institute, 75% of the world’s coral reefs are in grave danger. The Butterfly House & Aquarium collaborates with our partner public aquariums to help with coral conservation.

The Impact

As our coral rapidly propagates and grows, we send fragments of the corals to other public aquariums throughout the nation. By sending corals to our partner facilities, we are able to maintain sustainable coral propagation within the public aquarium community.

Alt

The ideal water temperature for the coral reefs in our aquariums is 78 degrees.

Alt

Even though they make up less than 1% of the marine environment, coral reefs are home to 25% of all fish species.

Alt

If current rates of coral bleaching continue, 60% of the world’s reefs will die over the next 30 years.
